Tiger Rice Cooker
I get asked a lot about rice cookers, especially after people see my How To Cook Eggs In A Rice Cooker recipe. There are so many makes and models out there that it can be very confusing, and I've had friends buy some cheaper models that didn't work very well. Oddly enough, with all the fancy fuzzy logic control panel rice cookers out there, the best ones are the ones with a simple button to cook. That's it. It's what my mother used and still uses, and it's the only type I have ever used. Tiger is a Japanese company and is one of the longest running brands of rice cookers out there, so their products are up to snuff.
12" Nonstick Ceramic Covered Skillet
I use this large skillet a lot, and you'll notice it a lot in several instructional photos for my recipes. The nonstick ceramic coating doesn't release those nasty fumes like the other nonstick coating, and the pan is heavy-duty and durable. I also love the glass lid that allows me to see what's going on inside with the food while it's cooking!
7" Nonstick Ceramic Frypan
I love this 7" ceramic nonstick skillet. We use it almost everyday to cook eggs in the morning, and I also use it to toast seeds or nuts when I'm cooking up dishes. When my husband first suggested getting this little pan, I thought it was completely unnecessary. But I have to admit, I love this little pan for all the small cooking jobs I didn't realize I had and I think you will, too!
CasaWare Ceramic Baking Pan
There are several reasons why I love this pan. It's big and deep enough for a generous multi-layered lasagna. It's lightweight so it's easy to lift in and out of the oven, even when it's full of food. It's coated with a ceramic nonstick coating, not that nasty stuff that releases fumes at high temperatures. And it comes in different colors (like red and aqua blue!), all with the cool speckly pattern! It is a great multi-purpose baking pan that I love using.
Nonstick Knives
These knives are called sushi knives, but they are good for so much more! One thing I have been asked a lot is how I slice my Easy Homemade Sandwich Deli Meat so thinly, and this knife is how I do it! The blade is thinner than most normal knives and the edge is razor sharp. The blade is also nonstick-coated and has holes in it which means the knife does not grab or catch on what it is slicing. It is perfect making thin meat slices, and as the name indicates, it's also great for slicing through delicate rolls of sushi.
Stainless Steel Straws
Why buy disposable plastic straws when you can have really cool reusable stainless steel ones?? Complete with cleaning brushes, these straws are not only good for hot and cold drinks, they also look really cool!
Gripstics Bag Clips
My sister introduced me to these funny contraptions a few years ago. At first glance, I had no idea how they worked and wondered if they were just some gimmick she got sucked into. Then I saw how they effectively seal bags and keep the contents fresh and I thought they were so awesome that I had to get some myself! The clips don't slip or fall off like those clamp-type clips, and they come in different lengths for different sized bags. This will link you to the assorted size pack, but if you have a lot of bags of a particular size, you can order those, too!
Amazon Fire Stick
This amazing little device allows you to stream shows and entertainment directly to your TV using Amazon's streaming service! When we wanted to watch something, we had to gather around a laptop and watch on the small screen. That's not exactly a fun way to spend movie night! But now we sit on the couch and watch streaming video on the TV!
World Atlas
Whether you want to research some world geography or are trying to figure out what your next travel destination will be, this world atlas is a great resource! We have an older edition of this atlas and at first, I thought it was a bit overkill with its size. But it proved to be a great book to flip through since the pages were big enough to show details that would be harder to see in anything smaller. This big hardcover book also makes a great coffee table book!
Transit Maps of the World Book
So I have a child who loves...LOVES maps and I was shocked to learn that this book even existed! If you love to travel, are interested in maps, or are planning a trip and want to check out your destination's transit system, this will be a great read. It also makes a great coffee table book!
Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy Book Set
Admittedly, I saw the movie before reading the book...there was no way I could wait and read the book first! So I did things in the wrong order, but that being said, the book is proving to be enjoyable in its own right! This would make a great gift for someone who fell in love with the movie and is looking forward to the sequel!
And while we're on this topic...
Crazy Rich Asians Movie DVD
Obviously, I can't talk about the books and not mention the movie! I loved this movie and it's no surprise it was such a hit! If you're Asian (like me!), you'll be able to relate to so many parts in this movie. But even if you're not, this is just a romantic comedy that is simply a really fun time.
Catan Board Game
My older son played this game for the first time a couple of years ago at school. He talked about it a lot, and even made his own homemade version of it using cut-out pieces of paper and Lego for playing pieces. We bought him the real game this past summer and after playing it the first couple of times, we understood why he loved this game so much! It's a great strategic game that is never the same each time you play it. We've played it several times and aren't tired of it yet! This would make a great option to family game night!
