Grip leafy crown with one hand and the body of the pineapple with the other hand and twist in opposite directions to remove the crown.
Cut off the bottom of the pineapple and stand the pineapple up on its flat base.
In a sawing motion from top to bottom, cut the pineapple skin off, staying as close to the edge as possible to not remove too much fruit.
Make v-shaped cuts on each side of the brown eyes in a diagonal spiral pattern around the pineapple to remove them.
Cut the pineapple in a half lengthwise, and then cut each half into half again to create 4 quarters.
Cut down the middle of each quarter chunk to remove the center core.
Place each pineapple chunk into a bowl of cold water for a few minutes to wash away excess acidity.
Cut each chunk of pineapple into bite-sized pieces and enjoy!
Notes
Look for pineapples that have a nice orange/golden color, have large knobs on the skin, are fragrant, and have a slight yield when gently pressed/squeezed.
Use the crown as a decorative plate garnish or use it to try growing your own pineapple!
Store leftover cut pineapple in a sealed container in the fridge for a few days.
