Rinse uncooked rice in a few rounds of cool water until water is mostly clear (it does not have to be perfectly clear).
Rice Cooker Method:
Place washed rice and 1 ½ cups water in the rice cooker pot.
Turn rice cooker on and let it complete its cook cycle.
Let rice sit, uncovered for another 5-10 minutes.
Fluff rice with chopsticks before serving.
Place washed rice and 1 ½ cups water in pot on stove and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, uncovered.
Let boil for about 30 seconds and then reduce heat to a low simmer. Cover pot with lid.
Simmer rice for 15 minutes. Do not remove lid.
Remove pot from heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Do not remove lid.
Remove lid and fluff rice with chopsticks or fork before serving.
This recipe uses a standard 1 cup measure, not the measuring cup that comes with a rice cooker (which is not a standard cup).
Rinse the rise either in a bowl, pouring the water out after each rinse, or rinse using a colander and running tap water.
Rinse rice, using your hand(s) to swirl the rice and rub the grains together.
If you are cooking more than 1 cup of rice, you may need to rinse the rice more.
