This chocolate peppermint tea latte wins on taste and comfort! All you need are three ingredients and it doesn't take long to make! You're going to love every sip of this luxurious tea!
Heat milk in a pot over medium heat until milk begins to steam, stirring frequently. Do not allow to boil.
Remove pot from heat and add tea bags. Cover the pot, leaving the lid slightly ajar and let the tea bags steep for 10 minutes.
Gently squeeze tea bags and remove from the milk. Place the pot of milk back on stove over medium heat.
Add chopped chocolate to the hot milk.
Stir chocolate with a whisk until chocolate is completely melted. Remove from heat.
Whisk rapidly to create a foam or use a milk frother to create a lot of foam! Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy!
Notes
For a non-dairy milk option, use a nut milk like almond milk or coconut milk.
A good non-dairy chocolate option is Guittard Bittersweet Chocolate.
I found 60% dark chocolate complemented the peppermint tea the best. However, feel free to use whatever grade of chocolate you prefer. Darker chocolate will make the tea less sweet.
Double the amount of chocolate to make a peppermint hot chocolate!
I advise against using chocolate chips because of the emulsifiers often found in them...hey don't melt as easily and don't blend as well into the tea.
Adjust the number of peppermint tea bags depending on the strength of peppermint flavor and your personal taste.
Add a drop or two of peppermint extract or peppermint syrup to up the peppermint taste.
For a fancy touch, top with whipped cream or a dusting of cocoa.
